HISTORY & BOUNDARIES

Yankin Township is located in the north-central part of Yangon. The township comprises 15 wards, and shares borders with Mayangone township in the north, Thingangyun township and South Okkalapa township in the east, the Inya Lake, Bahan township and Mayangone township in the west, and Tarmwe township in the south. The township has twelve primary schools, seven middle schools and two high schools.

Yankin is a thriving commercial hub of Yangon. Yankin Centre is a leading shopping destination in Yangon, attracting shoppers from around the city. Saya San Road is the main thoroughfare that runs through most of the important places in the township. The Kokkine Swimming Pools and the 18-hectare (44.5-acre) Myakyuntha Amusement Park are both located here. In 2008, the National Library of Myanmar moved to a new site in Yankin Township. In 2011, a new children's hospital opened in the township, occupying the site of an old Ministry of Mining building.

The Moekaung Pagoda is the principal pagoda of the area, and the annual Moekaung Pagoda Festival attracts a number of people from around the city. Yankin means Free of Strife. The name was given by King Alaungpaya of Konbaung Dynasty in 1755 after he had conquered a small village named Thanlyin Kin as part of his reunification of the country. Yankin was home to a number of government ministry headquarters before they were moved to Naypyidaw in 2006. The Central Bank of Myanmar, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Industries 1, the Ministry of Industries 2, the Ministry of Mines and the Ministry of Forestry all had their main offices here. Yankin Apartments was part of one of the many public housing programs implemented by U Nu's government.

Yankin is a mix of the upscale and middle-class area with a multi-ethnic character. The township has a large Tamil community, and a rich collection of Hindu temples, (most of which are dedicated to Kali and Ganesh) as well as a large Chinese temple called Fushan Temple, believed to be the largest in Yangon.

ရန္ကင္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္ သည္ တခ်ိန္တခါက ကံဘဲ့ၿမိဳ႕မ အမည္ျဖင့္ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ စည္ပင္သာယာေရး နယ္နိမိတ္ အျပင္ဘက္တြင္ တည္ရွိၿပီး အင္းစိန္ခ႐ုိင္တြင္ ပါဝင္ခဲ့သည္။ ၁၉၅၂ ခုႏွစ္တြင္ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ တုိးခ်ဲ႕ရပ္ကြက္မ်ားထဲမွ တစ္ခုအျဖစ္ ရန္ကင္းတုိက္တန္းမ်ား ေပၚေပါက္လာသည္။ ေတာ္လွန္ေရးေကာင္စီလက္ထက္တြင္ ၿမိဳ႕နယ္မ်ား ျပန္လည္သတ္မွတ္ျပ႒ာန္းသည့္အခါ ရန္ကင္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္ဟု သတ္မွတ္ျပ႒ာန္းေပးခဲ့သည္။ ထုိစဥ္က ရပ္ကြက္ (၁၆) ခု ပါဝင္ခဲ့ၿပီး ၂၀၀၆ ခုႏွစ္ ဇန္နဝါရီလတြင္ ျပင္ဆင္ခ်က္ ျပဳခဲ့ရာ၌ အမွတ္ (၁၀) ရပ္ကြက္ကုိ ပယ္ဖ်က္ကာ ရပ္ကြက္ (၁၅)ခုျဖင့္ သတ္မွတ္ျပ႒ာန္းခဲ့သည္မွာ ယခုတုိင္ ျဖစ္သည္။

အက်ယ္အဝန္းမွာ ၁ ဒသမ ၉၄ စတုရန္းမုိင္ ျဖစ္သည္။ နယ္နိမိတ္ အေရွ႕ဘက္ျခမ္းကုိ မီးရထားလမ္းက ႏႈတ္ခမ္းသပ္ေပးထားၿပီး အေရွ႕ဘက္နယ္နိမိတ္ကုိ ကမၻာေအးဘုရားလမ္းက စည္းတားေပးထားသည္။ ရန္ကင္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္ ပတ္ပတ္လည္တြင္ ေတာင္ဥကၠလာပၿမိဳ႕နယ္၊ သဃၤန္းကၽြန္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္၊ မရမ္းကုန္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္၊ တာေမြၿမိဳ႕နယ္တုိ႔ ဝန္းရံထားသည္။ ေျမာက္ဘက္တြင္ က်ီးေတာေခ်ာင္း၊ အလယ္တြင္ ဆည္ေျမာင္းေခ်ာင္းႏွင့္ ေတာင္ဘက္တြင္ ခုနစ္ပင္လိမ္ေခ်ာင္းတုိ႔ ရွိၿပီး ၎တုိ႔သည္ အေရွ႕ မွ အေနာက္သုိ႔ စီးဆင္းၿပီး အဓိကက်သည့္ ေရႏုတ္ေျမာင္းႀကီးမ်ားအျဖစ္ တည္ရွိေနၾကသည္။

Business Collection Group (BCG) မွ ေကာက္ယူထားေသာ အခ်က္အလက္မ်ားအရ စီးပြားေရးလုပ္ငန္း (၂ ၀၀၀)ေက်ာ္ ရွိၿပီး လုပ္သားအင္အားစု (၁၅ ၀၀၀)ဦး လုပ္ကုိင္လ်က္ရွိသည္။ အေထြေထြအုပ္ခ်ဳပ္ေရးဦးစီးဌာနမွ စာရင္းမ်ားအရ ၂၀၁၇ ခုႏွစ္ မတ္လကုန္တြင္ လူေနအိမ္ေျခ (၇ ၅၅၂)ခု ရွိၿပီး အိမ္ေထာင္စု (၁၄ ၅၁၄)စု ေနထုိင္လ်က္ ရွိသည္။ လူဦးေရမွာ (၆၆ ၉၄၉)ဦး ျဖစ္သည္။ ရပ္ကြက္မ်ားကုိ အမွတ္(၁) ရပ္ကြက္၊ အမွတ္(၂) ရပ္ကြက္ စသျဖင့္ အမွတ္(၁၆) ရပ္ကြက္ အထိ အမွတ္စဥ္ထုိးၿပီး အမည္ေပးထားသည္။ ဆုိခဲ့ၿပီးသည့္အတုိင္း ယခုအခါ အမွတ္(၁၀) ရပ္ကြက္ မရွိေတာ့သျဖင့္ အမွတ္(၁) မွ အမွတ္(၉) ရပ္ကြက္၊ ထုိ႔ေနာက္ အမွတ္(၁၁) မွ အမွတ္(၁၆) ရပ္ကြက္ အထိ ရွိေနရာ၌ အမွတ္(၁) မွ အမွတ္(၆) အထိ ရပ္ကြက္ (၆) ခုသည္ အုိးအိမ္ဦးစီးဌာနပုိင္ တုိက္တန္းလ်ားမ်ား ျဖစ္သည္။ အမွတ္(၇)၊ အမွတ္(၈)၊ အမွတ္(၁၄)၊ အမွတ္(၁၅)၊ အမွတ္(၁၆) ရပ္ကြက္မ်ားမွာ လုံးခ်င္းအိမ္ရာမ်ား ျဖစ္သည္။ သာမန္လက္လုပ္လက္စား အမ်ားစုေနထုိင္သည့္ ရပ္ကြက္မ်ားမွာ အမွတ္(၉)၊ အမွတ္(၁၁)၊ အမွတ္(၁၂)၊ အမွတ္(၁၃) ရပ္ကြက္မ်ား ျဖစ္သည္။ ကုန္ထုတ္လုပ္ငန္းအေနျဖင့္ ထီးထုတ္လုပ္သည့္ လုပ္ငန္းျဖစ္သည့္ မင္းထြန္း ထေရးဒင္းကုမၸဏီသည္ ထင္ရွားသည္။



က်န္းမာေရးက႑တြင္ အစုိးရပုိင္ ရန္ကင္းကေလးေဆးရုံသည္ ကုတင္ (၅၅၀)ဆံ့ ေဆး႐ုံျဖစ္သည္။ ပုဂၢလိကပုိင္ ေဆး႐ုံမွာ ကုတင္ (၁၀)ဆံ့ ေဆး႐ုံငယ္ ျဖစ္ေသာ လင္းပါရဂူ ေဆး႐ံုရွိသည္။

အစုိးရပညာေရးက႑တြင္ အဆင့္ျမင့္ ပညာေရးအတြက္ ရန္ကင္းပညာေရးေကာလိပ္ ရွိသည္။ ယင္းႏွင့္အတူ ေလ့က်င့္ေရးအလယ္တန္းေက်ာင္းတစ္ခု ဖြင့္လွစ္သင္ၾကားေပးလ်က္ ရွိသည္။ အေျခခံပညာေရးတြင္ အထက္တန္းေက်ာင္း (၂)ခု၊ အလယ္တန္းေက်ာင္း (၆)ခု၊ မူလတန္းေက်ာင္း (၁၂)ခု၊ ေန႔ကေလးထိန္းေက်ာင္း (၃)ခု ရွိသည္။ ဘုန္းေတာ္ႀကီးသင္ ပညာေရးေက်ာင္း (၁)ခု ရွိသည္။

စြမ္းအင္က႑အေနျဖင့္ ဓာတ္ဆီ၊ ဒီဇယ္ဆီအေရာင္းဆုိင္ မရွိေခ်။ သဘာဝဓာတ္ေငြ႕အေရာင္းဆုိင္လည္း မရွိေခ်။ ဟုိတယ္က႑တြင္ လူသိမ်ား ထင္ရွားသည့္ ဟုိတယ္ႀကီး (၂)ခု ရွိသည္။ ၎တုိ႔မွာ အခန္းေပါင္း (၇၃၁) ခန္း ရွိေသာ ၾကယ္ငါးပြင့္အဆင့္ Sedona Hotelႏွင့္ အခန္းေပါင္း (၁၈၃) ခန္းပါသည့္ Mercure Hotel တုိ႔ ျဖစ္သည္။ စုစုေပါင္း ဟုိတယ္ (၁၂) ခု ရွိသည္။

ရန္ကင္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္သုိ႔ ဝုိင္ဘီအက္စ္ဘတ္စ္လုိင္းမ်ား ျဖစ္သည့္ ၁၂၊ ၁၄၊ ၂၉၊ ၃၈၊ ၄၃၊ ၆ဝ၊ ၈၇ တုိ႔ ေျပးဆြဲလ်က္ ရွိသည္။ ၿမိဳ႕ပတ္ရထားလမ္းပုိင္းသည္ တစ္မုိင္ အရွည္ရွိၿပီး ဘူတာမ်ားမွာ ပါရမီဘူတာ၊ ကံဘဲ့ဘူတာ၊ ေဘာက္ေထာက္ဘူတာတုိ႔ ျဖစ္သည္။

ထင္ရွားသည့္ ေစတီပုထိုးမွာ မုိးေကာင္းေစတီေတာ္ ျဖစ္သည္။ ထင္ရွားသည့္ ေဈးမ်ားမွာ စံျပရန္ကင္းေဈး၊ ရန္ကင္းၿမိဳ႕မေဈး၊ ကံဘဲ့ဘူတာေဈး၊ ေဘာက္ေထာ္ေဈးတုိ႔ ျဖစ္သည္။ ကုန္တုိက္မွာ ရန္ကင္းစင္တာျဖစ္သည္။ အပန္းေျဖရန္ ပန္းၿခံမ်ားမွာ သုခဝတီပန္းၿခံႏွင့္ ရန္ကင္းပန္းၿခံတုိ႔ ျဖစ္သည္။
